The Voices & Rhythmic Sounds of Mega

On an early Sunday morning, Cleveland's near Westside resonates with the sound of heavenly music and singing as the Voices and Rhythmic Sounds of Mega use their God-given abilities and talents to begin each and every service at Mega Church, where Bishop Luther J. Blackwell, Jr. is the founder and pastor. For over 10 years, this highly talented and energetic group of young people has dedicated their time and energy to creating a reputation of excellence in ministry.

The Voices and Rhythmic Sounds of Mega cross several genres of Gospel Music. From traditional to contemporary gospel, the group continually pushes the envelope in skill and technique, ultimately looking to touch the heart strings of each listener and bring them to a revelation of Jesus Christ. "Our ultimate mission is to be Levites, carrying the presence of God into whatever arena we are in and to introduce each person who hears our sound to the love of Jesus Christ," says Executive Pastor Louie Hendon, Chief Singer and Overseer to the Voices and Rhythmic Sounds of Mega.

Under Hendon's leadership and the assistance of Minister of Music, Vencott Palmer, this five piece band and 40 plus vocal ensemble has shared the stage with such national artists as Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Lecresia Campbell, Angelo & Veronica, Fred Hammond, Bishop T.D. Jakes and many others. With both original and pre-recorded pieces, the Voices and Rhythmic Sounds have developed into a powerhouse of music ministry. The group does not simply rely on talent, but ultimately look to God for anointing and strength to reach both the congregation of Mega Church and an inner-city community that longs for compassion, love and encouragement.

The group has already released three projects entitled, "My Story" and "It's Time to Dance," a tribute to Bishop Blackwell's 50th year in ministry, and their highly anticipated sophomore release, "Appointed Time."

One might ask what the future holds for this outstanding group of young people... as a group each member sees the future limitless and full of potential. "The sky is the limit and as long as we keep our focus on being Levites, carrying the presence of God, we will fulfill the purpose in which we were created."

Mega School of Ministry

Mission Statement:

A solid foundation is the basis of our Christian doctrine and experience.

Goals:

  • To provide the basis for the development of strong and knowledgeable individuals in the community at large
  • To empower individuals and build a solid foundation which ultimately leads to settled, grounded and effective members of society
  • To provide systematic instruction to promote growth and development

I. Mega Shcool of Ministry Objectives:

  • To provide the basis for the development of strong and knowledgeable disciples of Christ.
  • To provide solid teaching on the Christian doctrine and to emphasize the necessity of the disciplined study of the Word of God.

II. The Importance of The School of Ministry:

  • Many Christians remain spiritually immature, unable to triumph over trials and tribulations because of a lack of disciplined study of the Word of God.
  • People have filled churches for many years and are unable to communicate the basic truths of their faith. They have a few scattered facts but not enough upon which to build a life.
  • The bible is not a textbook on theory; it is a guide to Christian growth and life. Systematic teaching can make the principles in the Bible practical to everyday Christian living.

III. The classes in The School of Ministry will promote the following:

  • THE USE OF ALL AVAILABLE STUDY HELPS. Use reference materials such as dictionaries, Bible encyclopedias, commentaries, etc. for study.
  • DISCIPLINED BIBLE STUDY. The student should develop regular times for study and understand that their own personal investment is essential.
  • INDEPENDENT BIBLICAL RESEARCH. The student should search out all Scriptures on a given topic. A doctrine is never built on a single Scripture, abut is developed through a balanced approach to what the Bible has to say on the subject.
  • ANOINTED TEACHING. Decide that this course will make a difference in your life. Your own openness to God and willingness to be changed will detemine how much you add to your life through this course.
  • PRAYER AND MEDITATION. Do not over look prayer as an important tool in studying. The Holy Spirit is the best teacher. Let Him speak to you through the lessons, both in class and as you study at home.

IV. Who should participate in The School of Ministry:

"And He gave some apostles, some phrophets, some evangelists, some pastor and teachers for the perfecting of the saints... that we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about by every kind of doctrine..." Eph. 4:11, 12, 14

  • All members who believe God has planted them in the house of Mega Church.
  • Anyone who desires a deeper understanding of the principles of Christian living.
  • The serious Bible student who seeks to enhance his spiritual understanding of the doctrines of Christ.
  • Anyone who needs to be taught the practical aspect of abundant living through specially designed classes that minister to the natural man. (e.g. fundamentals of reading, practical business knowledge, Spanish, etc.)

V. Completion Certificates

All students are eligible to receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the quarter, if the following criteria are met:

  • Students must have attended at least 75% of the scheduled classes (no more than 2 unexcused absences).
  • Students must have completed any assignments given by their teachers.
  • The teacaher will recommend the awarding of certificates.

II. The Importance of the Foundation Program:

"For when the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God..." Heb. 5:12

Principles of Importance:
  • To teach the basics of a solid foundation based on scriptural principles which will promote growth and development.
  • To stress the importance of church commitment.

III. The Foundation Program:

"Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Chirst, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgment." Heb. 6:1-2.

Mega Arms Prison Ministry

Mission Statement:

We are the outstreached arms to those that are incarcerated offering repentance, deliverance and salvation, leading them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and receiving Him as their Lord and Savior.

Ministry Foundation Scripture (Matthew 25:31-46) NLT:

31 "But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left." 34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.'' 37 "Then these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' 40 "And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' 41 "Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, 'Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. 42 For I was hungry, and you didn't feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn't give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn't invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn't give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn't visit me.' 44 "Then they will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?' 45 "And he will answer, 'I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.' 46 "And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life."

Spiritual Perspective:

Being part of a ministry is more than showing up now and then; it is an attitude of commitment - when members of the body of Christ are fitly joined. Your attitude must be your personal representation of what God is to you in the earth and the work that He has called you to do. God is a God of excellence! This ministry demands faithfulness, as there are those in darkness waiting on us behind prison walls to bring the fight of the glorious Gospel to them. There are people that God has set up for us to go bring into HIS KINGDOM! The question becomes "How will you go?" In faith and commitment to God and your teammates, or subtle rebellion with your own agenda? There is absolutely no room for jealousy in this ministry work! We are going into enemy territory; therefore, we cannot harbor emotions that come out of the kingdom of darkness. If God has truly called you to this ministry, you will allow Him to perfect you in it!
